Honda CB 300F to be launched in the US Market

Come September 2014, Honda will be ready to launch their new street bike, the Honda CB300F in the US market.

This upcoming new model for the US market is more or less the street bike version of the forthcoming Honda CBR300R for the Indian market and is touted to be a replacement for the old CBR250R.Dsigns such as the headlights & tank extensions in the CB300F have been molded along the lines of the CB500F street fighter. Part sharing with the CBR300R is visible on the mudguards, seats, exhaust and tail section. What’s essential for a street bike is a sporty look with a comfortable riding position; the rear-set foot pegs and flat handlebar make it possible in the CB300F.

The Honda CB300F will be powered with a 286cc, single-cylinder, for-stroke mill producing 31PS @ 8,500rpm and a torque rating of 27Nm @ 7,250rpm. The power plant is the same old version of the 249cc engine as found on the CBR250R with the same basic engine construction and PGM-FI takes care of fuelling the bike. The rear wheel gets its power from a six-speed transmission. A single 296mm disc brakes at front and 220mm disc at rear have been used for braking & the surprising part is that  ABS hasn’t been given even as an option. Suspension duties are handled by 37mm telescopic front forks and 5-step, spring loaded mono-shock setup at the back. The Honda CB300F has a fuel tank capacity of 12.9-litre and it tips the scale at 158kg. The 2015 Honda CB300F has been priced at Rs 2.4 lakh in the US market and will be available only in red shade.

The Honda CB300F will also eventually make its way to our shores by 2015. The Honda CB300F will be put in competition against the Suzuki Inazuma and the upcoming Kawasaki Z250 but will be powered by a single-cylinder power plant that should make it cheaper than the other bikes.
